VR for Journalism Education
In 2016, we were awarded funding from the Association for Journalism Education, to develop a virtual reality learning scenario for student journalists. This was to provide a resource for students to have real world experience of a breaking news story that they would then create a news story from.
This project was tested with a group of journalism students at Coventry University with results showing the benefits of learning in this way. Experiencing a news environment directly helped students with news gathering and news writing skills, however this was found to be a good additional pedagogical tool and not a replacement to a class.
This research will be published shortly.
Now we want to test it on a wider scale.
If you teach at a university and want to use the Journalism VREdu toolbox, please complete the form below and the learning resource will be sent.
